Debbie DeGrado is a Colorado native and has worked in human services and behavioral health for over 25 years. Debbie earned her bachelor's degree (BA) in psychology from the University of Colorado Denver and her master's degree (MS) in Human Behavior from Capella University.
Debbie has worked professionally in Colorado, Alaska and Texas, recently moved to Seward, Alaska in September 2025.
Having served as an addiction/substance abuse counselor, behavioral health specialist, hospice chaplain, program coordinator and clinical supervisor in a variety of settings including detox, residential, hospital/hospice, outpatient, schools and prevention programs.
She has worked with diverse populations of persons including adolescents, adults, elderly, disabled, homeless, veterans, terminally ill and persons with co-occurring mental health/substance use disorders.
Debbie's primary focus is to alleviate human suffering, enhance quality of life and provide education, counseling and resources to help people recover. She utilizes a holistic mind, body, and spirit model. She is client-centered, solution-focused and provides trauma informed care to all her clients. She utilizes a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Positive Psychology and Motivational Interviewing; she treats all clients with compassion, dignity, respect and unconditional positive regard.
