Director of Finance

SeaView Community Services, located in Seward, Alaska, is a $4M non-profit, community services agency with 45+ employees. Seward is known for its sense of community and quality of life, and has received the All-America City Award 3 times. We are located 120 miles south of Anchorage, on the Kenai Peninsula.

SeaView is currently seeking a Finance Director to function as the administrator for all financial aspects of the organization. Provides oversight of all fiscal operations and the accounting system including: accounts payable, all accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll, general ledger reconciliation. Responsible for analysis of financial status, annual financial audit preparation, agency budgets, and capital grants. Is responsible for insuring all directors have up to date program budgets and necessary budget trainings required to keep all directors informed about regulatory and legal financial changes. Responsible for oversight of all facility functions, repairs, and SeaView’s fleet of vehicles.

Essential Functions
Provides oversight of all accounting operations and procedures according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Responsible for General Ledger accounts, financial statements, budgets, cash flow, investments, Accounts Receivable (A/R), purchasing, Accounts Payable (A/P), and payroll (P/R). Recommends policy changes when appropriate. Supervise 3 FTE accounting employees. Evaluate the work of staff in order to ensure that services are of appropriate quality and that resources are used efficiently and effectively, and consistent with relevant regulations.

Ensure compliance with Federal and State reporting requirements. Responsible for successful processing and preparation of grant compliance reporting. Prepares materials for audit preparation and complete post audit activities. Research new funding sources. Maintain working knowledge of Federal laws, Alaska laws, rules, State and Medicaid regulations, precedents, all grant financial regulations, terminology, knowledge of local and statewide resources available. Work with state officials and other providers to correctly interpret rules and regulations. Analyze proposed legislation, regulations, or rule changes in order to determine how services could be impacted; make program changes necessary to implement them. Responsible for the oversight of all facility functions, repairs, and SeaView’s fleet of vehicles, including supervision of staff related to these areas.

Must have non-profit experience and working knowledge of fund accounting. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field. 5 years of senior management experience in a similar position. Familiar with Fundware and SAGE MIP a plus. Proven ability to secure future funding resources. Ability to handle strict grant reporting deadlines. Excellent supervisory and communication skills are essential for the right fit.
